Fun in Rock Bottom!!!

So as my last post said last night was our last night of summer. We officially started school today. So last night we wanted to do something fun and exciting and then we realized we were in Rock Springs WY. So we started off by going to the volleyball game and watching some paint dry... The other team was terrible... anyways so after that we came back to our room and was waiting for our friends Michelle Carver to get done with basketball practice. So we decided that we would go drive around to find something to do. As we were driving down the street, we saw wal mart and decided what a better place to go than wal mart to have fun right?
So we head to the clothes section and this is what we found.

Good thing we brought our camera cuz it was a great time.
Then we wanted a little more excitment so we decided to make mentos/coke bombs. None of us had done them before but we took a shot at it. It was fun but we saved one bottle of coke and some mentos to figure out how to make them really blow up. So I will update you all when we figure that one out!

Then we just came back to our game and played a mean game of egyptian rat slap...its a card game by the way. And that was how we spent our last night of summer... We were pretty impressed with ourselves for finding such fun in Podunck WY lol!!

This is our last free night until school starts and we are all sad... and what better way to spend it than Blogging right? Well hope to see everyone soon!!

We made 'er!!

Well today was the official day to move into the dorms at Western! I have spent the past few days doing laundry and packing to get all ready to move out again!! Most everything fit into my little car... I was pretty proud of myself!! Well anyways Jessica Hutchinson and I are rooming together with a couple girls from Mtn. View. Me and Jess arrived in the windy city just before noon and got checked in and all that fun stuff... but actually the fun was just begining. My car was packed as well as hers so we had to haul everything up to the 3rd floor! and dont worry there aren't elevators in this building so we strapped it on our backs! No it really wasn't that bad because we had a bunch of people helping us.
This is what our room looked like after we moved the beds around
and got everything in there. We have been working our little tails off in this blistering heat (no A/C in the rooms) and we have got most everything put away...

Do you think we have enough stuff? I will be putting pics on here of the room once everything is all done and put together! We are still deciding how we want to decorate so it may take a few weeks!! But its good to be back and see everyone! We have two meetings tonight that we have to attend so we will be pretty busy... Oh also just to add... our room is right above the dumpsters...I keep getting a big wif of sick garbage!! Its going to be great!! But for those of you who are missing me already I will be home for Labor day in about 4 days!! haha

We are Family!!

This past weekend we had our annual Welling reunion. It was our 25th anniversary of going up to the Youth Camp- Meeks Cabin Dam. I have loved each and everyone that I have been to and I look forward to them every summer. We love to get together whenever we have the chance. But the reunion is something special. We see each other alot but it is still so fun just to go up into the mountains for 4 days and 3 nights and just spend time together. We stay up late... sometimes even all night... just talking, laughing, and sometimes crying over past memories and just getting updated on everyones life! Our favorite is the question game... we sometimes learn too much from each other but we have a good time. We also play volleyball and waterballoon volleyball, basketball, horseshoes, fishing, swinging, and lots of other fun activities. This year we did countries and it was fun to eat different foods from other countries. I also had the priviledge of talking on Sunday, and I don't know what it is but I always get so nervous. I think I would rather talk in sacrament meeting than in front of family, I dont know but I just got way nervous.
The time always go by so fast and some people aren't able to make it but we enjoy everyone that does come! We are almost out growing this place but we hope we can keep going as many years as we can! I love my family and am so blessed that I have such a great family! They are great and there is never a dull moment with us!!

Last of the Summer Days!!

Yesterday I went to Ogden with my friend Jessica and her mom and we went shopping! We didn't buy anything but shoes... I got 3 pairs:)... we spent enough money on shoes that we didn't even want to look in clothig stores. But our last stop was the Quilted Bear!! I dont think I've ever been in there but I loved it!! Here is a saying I bought and then I painted the block last night and put it all together... I was pretty proud of myself because this goes beyond my ususal-ness

The color you can't really tell is brown... We want these colors to be the colors of our living room! I thought the saying was so dang cute that I had to buy it. We also bought a saying that says... someday my prince will come... I thought it was cute and it was written in that disney font but one of our roommates doesn't like it so we will see who wins haha!

Also on Wednesday Me and Jess went to get our nails done... I got a pedicure and she got a manicure... I had a gift card so I decided it would be nice to go right before I leave for school and oh it felt so good!! We decided that it was kind of a waste of money because they didn't do anything that we couldn't do at home but I would rather have someone else do it...plus the flower they put on it was awesome.
I love the green! I wanted something bright and fun and it was this or hunting orange so I picked this one!! But the flower was amazing... she did it all by hand and I was very impressed!! And don't worry that I did shave my legs before I went... even though she had gloves on I still would've felt bad for the poor lady

Don't keep your eye one the ball

So it has been one year since my little accident. For those of you who dont know the story it goes like this. We were having a tourney here in evanston and I was supposed to be working but one of the local teams didn't have enough girls so they asked me to play. I really didn't want to but they kept begging me and the ladies I work with insisted that I did too. So I decided I would be nice and go play. It was about the second inning I think and I was on 2nd base. The pitcher pitched it and the GUY batter hit it. It was coming right at me so I thought I was going to make an easy play. Then the next thing I know is it hit me in the face and I fell to the ground in pain. Everyone ran over and surrounded me. Then two of the ladies I was working with came out to the rescue. They grabbed my hands and insisted that I was going to be ok even though my eye was swollen shut and I couldn't see out of it and the blood from my nose was chocking me. Some guy came out the said he was a nurse was like" You'll only need a few stitches and you'll be just fine." Mean while back at the ranch, my dad heard on the scanner that some 18 year old girl had just got hit in the face by a softball and they were calling an ambulance, and what was his reaction... Some dumb girl can't catch the ball. Then dispatch called him and said uh David we think that was your daughter that got hit, and his reaction... Some dumb girl can't catch the ball. So anyways the ambulance comes and put that dang neck brace on and loaded me up to take me to the hospital. And as I am there the whole town of evanston comes to see me. No I am thankful to those of you that came except that they kept making me laugh and my head was
pounding, and they all got their phones out to take pictures. Anyways they had to dig the contact out of my eye to check it. They were talking about life flighting me out to Utah because they were worried about the pressure and bleeding inside of my eye, but they ended up just transporting me by ground. Kent Williams was on call that day and he helped my dad give me a blessing before we left. They trip down to Utah was the most horrible trip ever. I was so tired because they gave me morphine for the pain...which made me sick and tired... so then they gave me phenegran to help with the nausea and it also made me tired. So I was so incredibly tired but everytime I would go to sleep I was afraid I was going to quit breathing because the neck brace made it hard to breathe. But as soon as they took the brace off when we got to the U of U, I was able to sleep... kind of. The docs kept coming in and waking me up to do test or whatever and my dad's phone was ringing off the hook, but it wasn't a ring it was an elk call. It was so annoying and made me so grumpy everytime it went off. but the funny story was one doc came in and handed me a paper and asked if I could read it. I held it and looked at it and said ya i can... and he was all can you read it out loud to me! Haha it was funny but i as on drugs. and when they went to stitch me up I touched the sterile sheet that was on my face and I got in trouble for that too! But I was so glad to be able to come home. We went to the eye doctor the next day and we found out the my eye was bleeding inside and the pressure was really high, so I was supposed to stay in bed, or a dark room and not use my eyes because they were afraid my eye would permanently loose the eye sight. So that only lasted a few days because I was so bored of it. Anyways I also broke my nose and the bones around my eye but they weren't misplaced so i didn't have to get surgery.

The hospital shorty after the hit

You can tell me nose is broken and can see the bruising already showing and the swelling

This was day one after we got home that night

Day 2 when we went to see my grandparents

Day 3- the Color has spread to the other side of my face and my noce is distorted

Day 4- alot of bruising and discolor on both sides of my face. The swelling on my eye, nose, between my eyes and forehead, nad can see the stitches pretty good...

but I am so blessed for the outcome that I had. If the ball would've hit anywhere else I could've been killed or had worse injuries. I was only dizzy for about a month or two when I would turn my head a certain way, my whole face was bruised and swollen and it took about a month for all the color to go away but it finally did, I lost alot of my sense of smell and taste but alot of it has came back and is still slowly returning, the nerves in my forehead are kinda screwed up cuz I tough above my eyebrow and fill it half way up my head, my eyebrow area is still a little swollen but its not too noticable, and my memory isn't as good as it used to be and some people sasy that I have tramatic brain injury and I think sometimes i do too... just kidding but its a good excuse haha. I also swore I would never play aoftball again but I did get me a helmet and I palyed in the relay for life tourney and I also played one other night without my helmet!! So I am slowly healing all the little things but all the big things are healed and my eye sight was just as bad as it was before the injury. I think I am doing good for it only being a year ago, and my eye isn't peranently damaged!

Boating!

Yesterday I went up to Sulfur Creek to go boating with all that ladies I worked with this summer at the ball fields. I had so much fun and got burned but it was all worth it!

Jacquie Skiing. She is pretty much a pro and makes it look so easy

Helen and me soaking up some sun cuz
everyone knows I need as much as I can get

Helen Jacquie and Judy riding the tube. It was so funny because me and bailey just kept hearing these little high pitched squeals everytime they would go off the wake
This was me attempting to water ski. It took about 20 tries (no lies) to get up but I finally did for a few seconds until i crashed and burned. I was jsut happy I could get up because I have tried before and I couldn't figure it out! Oh and dont ask about the face... I dont know either

Swimming back to the boat after one of my many crash and burns but I kept on smiling. And Dont worry that I got all of the water in take that is needed for the next three weeks all in one day

Me and Jacquie riding on the tube! It was so fun... we were holding on for dear life cuz every turn your whole body was off the tube but your arms! But we had such a blast

Judy Jacquie and Helen gearing up for their ride on the tube! This was before Helen and Judy got wet but while they were on the tube the front went down a litle and a whoole bunch of water came up and soaked them! It was so funny because they looked like drowned rats after haha I was dying

Bailey getting ready to try to knee board. She did really good for never trying it before and she kicked but at water skiing too... she got up on her first try and rode like a champ. The funny thing was when we got on the boat she was like I have never tried any of this water stuff before just the tubes... Ya she is just a natural

This is me knee boarding in case you couldn't tell! I love knee boarding and I had a blast even though my face doesn't show it, its just pure concentration!! haha I was just getting board going back and forth so I tried to spin but that didnt work and I ate it but it was so fun!!

Weekly Update

So I know I have been slacking on the posting but I have had quite the week. LAst saturday we had a yard sale and I made $90 buck out of random stuff. It doesn't sound like alot but I didn't have anything priced over $8. Also I need a new car so I just decided to put a sale sign in my car for the yard sale and sure enough I sold it!! $2000!! It was great, except I was car-less and I had to work, so I had to be taxied around. So Monday comes and I go and get loan papers from the bank and when my dad get off we go looking for cars. We went to Jay Welling place and he had a silver ford focus, '03 only had 44000 miles tinted windows for $7000. So we took it for a test drive and I liked it! So I took it home that night and finalized the sale on Tuesday! It's no mazda 3 but I have low payments and I can still afford to go to school!!

Then tuesday night me and jessica picked up tara in Mtn. View and headed to Rock Springs for our institute council retreat! We left Wednesday morning and headed up to louis lake. We just stayed the night but it was so fun. Also something kind of crazy, Vicki and Jeff Young's brother Daren(or however you spell it) went with us too! He is such a fun guy. Anyways we were able to drive over to Rock Creek where the Willie handcart company was rescued. It is such a beautiful and spiritual place to be. Bro. Packer told us some pioneer stories and then we had some alone time. This is when I decided to prepare my talk for the reunion... Thats right I get the priviledge of talking at the reunion... So those of you who were planning on coming I would rethink it! But anyways we had a really fun time and learned so much! And thats been my week! These are just some of the pics that I took on the retreat!!

Summer Concerts!!

So I have gone to a few concerts this summer and here are the pics from them. The UVU Phoria was the celebration of UVSC becoming a university. We got in free cuz Brittany won tickets but otherwise it was only $5 and it was Josh Gracin, Colin Raye, AND Joe Nichols. Oh and Josh Gracin walked through the crowd and we touched him!!! Ahh so cool haha. Then it was Tracy Lawrence and Phil Vassar at the Uinta County Fair Concert. Phil Vassar was my favorite! And I was also going to go to JoDee Messina at the Sweetwater County Fair but that plan didn't go as planned. The video clips at the end are Josh Gracin singing I Can Only Imagine! I love that song and now I love it even more! and Phil Vassar is singing American Child... Love that song too!! P.S. Dont mind some off key singing in the background... we got stuck by people who sang off key;)

6 Unspectacular Quirks

So I was tagged by my cousin Collette to list 6 unspectacular quirks/facts about me. I had to think about this for a few days so here ya go...

1. I am super competitive. It doesn't matter what it is I love to win and hate to lose! If I don't win at something, watch out, No just kidding but still!!
2. I have lost alot of my sense of smell and taste due to my encounter with a softball to the face. It is slowly coming back! Most of the time I can't smell gas too... I am not complaining about this one!!
3. I am quite shy when I am not around familiar people. No one would ever guess this, I know, but I don't like the akwardness of new people. But once I get to know you, you can't shut me up!! ha ha
4. I love my hot sauce! Franks Red Hot is where its at. I eat it on almost everything, eggs, chicken, steak, chili, etc. Anything that could use flavor! And if I don't have any I go crazy!
5. I am not a reader. I can count the amount of books I have read cover to cover probably on my two hands. And p.s. I have no ambitition to read the Twilight series!!
6. I used to be a little boy! Any of you that can remember back about 6 years should know what I am taking about! Yes I even got kicked out of the girls bathroom...twice! Thanks for reminding me! I would post a picture to remind everyone just in case you forgot but I am hoping everyone forgot and I think I burned all the pics from back then... if not then I should!!

And I am supposed to tag six people so I choose- Brittany, Julie, Susan or Nicole, Jenny, Megan, and Mashelle!! Good luck!
