It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas!!

So I decided to quit being lazy and post some pictures of my decorated room!! Here is our flashing icicle lights that are up all over our living room!! Yes there are side effects... headaches, nausea, annoyance... However once you get used to them they are good and you tend to not even notice them. Also if you look really close I bought some blocks that say Happy Holidays on top our my TV!!
This next one if of our lights around the window...obviously... they said they were violet but they are more pinkish redish but still cute... my roommates boyfriend however told us that in Europe, red lights around a window meant it was a whore house so they avoided them on his mission. And no i didnt know this but I thought how perfect:) haha jk

And our stocking would be hung by the chimney with care but since we dont have a chimney it was a little hard. So they were forcefully hung on the wall with a push pin. And since we are poor college students they are empty, but they still look cute.
And the best part of our decorations... The Mtn Dew tree... so we were thinking of a way to combine mtn dew and christmas tree and all we could come up with was the DEW-mas tree!! Clever huh? I think it fits us pretty good hahah!! Look closely and you can see our two ornaments and a few candy canes!!

And again since we are poor college students that is just an empty box wrapped in paper to lift the tree off the ground. and there aren't any presents under there either!!

Bu we did make sure we put lights on it! It's not an official christmas tree without lights, a star, candy canes and ornaments right? Well I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!

Semi-Finished Dew Tree

So last night after we got done eating at wingers for my birthday, we were just sitting around and decided to start building our tree. We were going to use root beer cans as the trunk since they were brown but we didnt have any... so we got our beer bottles that we have been collecting too... jk they are really the IBC root beer. So here is our trunk. The plate is for a flat surface for the cans to sit on.

This was the bottom layer. I think there are 61 cans on this layer. So then we just started building up from there.
So we kept gluing the cans up and the next layer had 37 cans and it just went down from there.
So we got to this point and didn't have very many more empty cans and we wanted it to be taller. So we called everyone over to drink some mtn dew cuz we are pretty sick of it:)

This is our semi finished product. We added some red cans for the bulbs and the squirt cans for the star!! clever i know... but we aren't quite finished yet. We had a few more finishing touches to add to it and I will post them as soon as it's done. I was just so excited to get this far and have our tree up. We are thinking of selling it on ebay so keep your eyes open if you want to bid on it!! haha but for those of you who were desperately waiting, here are some pictures to start with. We used hot glue to glue the cans together for those of you who were wondering!!

Thanksgiving Break!!

I had one of the best Thanksgiving breaks ever. I had almost a whole week off and it was very much needed. Thursday started off with the annual Welling Family basketball game. It was really fun even though I got a few bumps and bruises. Then we had our big feast at Grandma and Grandpa Welling's! It was amazing as usual. If I counted right we had about 63 people there inside their house. It was a bit crowded but I haven't known a Holiday gathering with my family that wasn't crowded. Then came Friday... The big shopping day! I didnt have to work so I woke up with the rest of the family and went to Wal mart just after 4AM to stand in line. Julie was the best because she had everything organized on who was getting what. I was in charge of the Kitchen aids and I had to pick up 4 of them... and yes I was successful after knocking over aqnyone in front of me and stealing one out of someones cart... no not really that didn't happen but it was fun to run for them anyways. This is me and Julies waiting in the freezing cold weather for the doors to open. It was almost as intense as my high school basketball games:) hhahaa ok not really but close

Me julie and brittany still freezing. And yes that is my middle school track sweater. I wore it so everyone knew i was fast so they wouldn't get in my way!! haha but yes it still fits amazingly.

Yes these guys drove all the way from Laramie for this day!! haha who wouldn't right? But this was the rest of our crew... We really enjoyed ourselves waiting in line

Notice the snow on Collette's coat... It was coming down pretty good!

I dont know if you can see it very well but this was the line on the otehr side... people were lined clear back past the handicap parking... little did they know all the good stuff was on our side hahah losers!! jk

Well the rest of my day was spent sleeping and playing more basketball. We got some of us old girls that have already graduated high school and we went and scrimmage the girls that are still playing. Yes we did kick some butt and I was very impressed with our performance. We haven't done much running or basketball playing in awhile so it was quite impressive. It was fun to get together and play like old times.

Then on Saturday I spent most of my day slaving away for my father. I cleaned the chimney, cleaned out the fireplace, put up christmas light all over the yard and on the roof!! Yes Clark Griswold is quite the slave driver, but at least our house is pretty good looking.

Sunday my family went to Wellsville UT to Heather and Bart's baby blessing. They blessed Aspen down there and it was really fun. Aspen is so beautiful and I was glad that we went down to it. They have a very beautiful house as well and we were thankful to be able to come down and visit them!

Monday I hung up some more lights and we went to the forgotten carols that night. It is such an amazing play and has such a neat message. The songs in it are awesome and I think its something that everyone needs to see. I love the message that it portrays. We also went to dinner at a place where we sat in covered wagons for dinner. It was kinda fun. This is us at dinner in case you couldn't tell by the food in Brittanys mouth!! Thanks britt! And now i'm back in Rock Bottom where it feels like a hurricane minus the moisture part!! I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!!
