Massage Therapy!!

Well my latest random tangent of thought is to go to massage therapy of school. I think it would be way fun and everyone would love me right :) haha jk I was thinking the other day that it would be alot more beneficial that teaching. It is something I can do from home, which would be perfect when someday I have kids and want to stay home with them. And with teaching that really isn't an option. Also I could get jobs in alot of different places like cruise ships :), spa's, medical places, etc. I am really looking into it and am really considering it! If any has any tips of advice or warnings that would be great because the colleges are not going to tell me bad things because they want my money right!?!
Well I hope everyone is getting ready for the holiday season and also basketball season!! Cuz I am super excited for basketball. For those of you who dont know I am going to be helping out the girls basketball team here in evanston. I am just going to be a volunteer coach for the JV and varsity levels. I will travel and everything with the team and I am way excited. These girls took 2nd place at the state tournament in volleyball and with some hard work they should be able to make it back to that game!! and hopefully win it this time!! I am super excited and will keep everyone updated on how that goes!!

Joseph and Emma Smith

So yesterday was a fabulous day at church!! Sunday school we had a great lesson about Joseph Smith and the martyrdom. It was such a great lesson and the teacher asked us to think of when we received our testimony of the prophet. It was interesting to hear other people's stories and feel of the spirit! It was one of the best sunday school lessons I have had. It really makes me want to go back to Nauvoo and those other church sites and see where everything happened! I have a strong testimony of the prophet Joseph Smith and I am so thankful that he followed the teachings in James and asked God which church he should join!! What an amazing thing for such a young kid to do!! Here is a video I found that just shows pictures and has prophets talking about Joseph Smith!!
Also how can we not talk about Emma!! She is an amazing woman!! I cant even imagine how she felt as she saw her husband go through all the persecution and trials. She is such an example to me of staying strong even when things are going the way we would like them. And having to bury child after child, would be so hard for anyone! This is also an amazing video that portrays her life. The song has become one of my favorites because the message is awesome! Both the Joseph Smith and Emma movies are incredible and I would highly recommend them to anyone who hasn't seen them! Well thought I would share this bit with you since nothing exciting is happening in my life :) have a great week everyone!!

One day you will!

Last month I was able to see Lady Antebellum in concert. I loved them so much I bought their whole CD. This is unusual for me because I never buy CD's I usually just buy individual songs from iTunes. But as I was listening to their cd, one of the songs really stuck out. It is one of my new favorite songs and it has an awesome message. Its called One Day You Will (click to hear the song) and here are the lyrics-

You feel like you're falling backwards
Like you're slippin' through the cracks
Like no one would even notice
If you left this town and never came back
You walk outside and all you see is rain
You look inside and all you feel is pain
And you can't see it now

[Chorus]But down the road the sun is shining
In every cloud there's a silver lining
Just keep holding on (just keep holding on)
And every heartache makes you stronger
But it won't be much longer
You'll find love, you'll find peace
And the you you're meant to be
I know right now that's not the way you feel
But one day you will

You wake up every morning and ask yourself
What am I doing here anyway
With the weight of all those disappointments
Whispering in your ear
You're just barely hanging by a thread
You wanna scream but you're down to your last breath
And you don't know it yet

But down the road the sun is shining
In every cloud there's a silver lining
Just keep holding on (just keep holding on)
And every heartache makes you stronger
But it won't be much longer
You'll find love, you'll find peace
And the you you're meant to be
I know right now that's not the way you feel
But one day you will

Find the strength to rise above
You will find just what you're made of, you're made of

But down the road the sun is shining
In every cloud there's a silver lining
Just keep holding on (just keep holding on)
And every heartache makes you stronger
But it won't be much longer
You'll find love, you'll find peace
And the you you're meant to be
I know right now that's not the way you feel
But one day you will

One day you will
Oh one day you will

They are very powerful lyrics that gives some encouragement for hard times. I have been thinking alot about life and everything and everyone in my life. This past weekend was the end of my career at working at the ball fields. I have worked there for 5 years and have had the best of times there. The ladies I work with are AMAZING and I am going to miss them. I didn't think that I would ever cry knowing that I would be done working there but as I gave Jacquie a hug I started tearing up because memories from the past years brought tears to my eyes. She really helped me get through alot of hard times that I have faced and I know I couldn't have done it without her.
Yesterday was also my Uncle Mike's birthday. I looked back on all the memories I had with him and his family. I love them and miss him everyday. Songs like this give me strength to move on because trials really do make us stronger and without mine I would not be where I am today. Sometimes its hard to see the sun shining down the road but its so comforting to know that we will find the peace and love that we need. I am so grateful for the family that I have. I honestly think that I have the best family EVER because we have so much love and support for each other and we would do anything for each other.

Relay for Life 2009!!

Wow what a busy summer it has just been crazy!! Last weekend was the annual Relay for Life, which is a cancer walk to help raise money for cancer research. My Welling family has a team and this is the second year in a row that we have been the team that has raised the most money. We raised well over $9000 to donate to the Relay. The past few years have been pretty hard at the Relay because cancer took the life of my Uncle Mike Lake just two years ago. It was a very sad thing to go through but we are stronger today because of that and his life he led and the exapmple he set for everyone around him!! All that knew him looked up to him and admired him for everything that he did. This years Relay was a bitter sweet one. We honored Mike and his strength to fight off this horrible disease for some time before it took his life. We missed him being there physically but I know his spirit was in attendance that night!! We also honored my Grandpa Welling and Uncle Gary who had fought off cancer as well. The more sweet bit to the night was seeing my aunt Jill in that purple shirt with SURVIVOR written on the back because she definately is a strong survivor. Towards the end of last year she was diagnosed with cancer and not knowing what the future held, it was pretty tough. But after months of chemo treatments and radiation she had successfully fought it off!! There was not a moment during the whole time that I heard her complain or have a bad attitude about it. She is the strongest women I know to have such a great attitude during such a difficult time!! But it has been a huge blessing for her to fight it and see her walk that survivor walk. It brought tears to my eyes and cheeks and the tears poured down my face and we stood and clapped for her as she and other cancer survivors walked the first lap of the night!! It was a great experience to see her with hair on her head and a huge smile on her face as she waved up to our family in the stands!!

Then it was off to the ball fields for the homerun for a cure all night softball tourney. It was super fun for the first few hours until our energy wore out!! Our first game was at 8:15, then 11:15 then 1:45 and then 3:00 (yes AM!!). AS much as I wanted to win that last game I was so ready to be done... or so I thought :) I ended up staying the whole night into the morning umping games. It wasn't the funnest time of my life and I can only think of a few other things that I've done that were worse but I ended up leaving the ball fields at about 10:30 saturday morning. I was one tired, grumpy girl. But we had a fun time playing and we won two games and lost two so we have improved every year!! Every other inning in the games had fun things to do and one was a kickball inning. Our team rocked!! It was kind of sad that we were in a softball tourney and played better kickball than softball but we all had fun and had limited injuries (just a few stiffa nd sore people the next day... ok probably the whole team) so it was a success!!
This was the 11:00 game so i was still happy :) haha
The Team looking on as we bat!!
The dugout!! We had fun!!

Graduating from WWCC

Well I am finally finished at Western. Ok I was done at the beginning of this month but I am now blogging it. I graduated with my Associate of Science with a GPA of 3.946 which means that I was a distinguished gradute and got to wear the cord and could pay $12 to keep it or I could just return the cord to them, which I did. The ceremony was long and boring but what graduation ceremony isn't? I was very entertained however because most people sitting around were drunk and fuming in alcohol. I think I got a buzz just from breathing in their fumes :) jk but I am pretty sure I laughed the whole time and only one girl fell down the stairs so I think it was a pretty successful ceremony!!
My years at western were pretty dang good. I am so glad that I chose this school to go to because it is a really good school and the institute program there was the best. I made so many great friends and we did so many great things as my previous posts have shown (p.s. they only show the good things :) jk). But I know if I had to do it again I would definately go back. I think 2 years living in Rock Springs is just the right amount of time!! I was really sad to leave every one and all the memories but I was excited to be done with school! Now I am taking a year off to work and save up some money so I can finish my schooling. I'm planning on substitute teaching school just to kind of get a feel for teaching and make sure its what I want to do and I will also be helping coach the girls baketball team here in Evanston. Then after that I will probably go finish up school at UVU or BYU or possibly go on a mission. Things are still up in the air and I'll figure them out someday :)
The Roommates that graduated... Michelle Tims, Jessica Hutchinson and ME!!
The Girls!!! WE are so excited
This is what I have been wanting to do all year!! haha jk i love this girl
Timmy thinking she was a distinguished graduate...
haha ya right as you can see me and Jess thought she was pretty funny!!

Update... Crazy I Know!!

Ok so its obvious that I haven't posted for awhile. Its not that i havent done anything fun or not worth blogging but i have been pretty busy and life has been pretty crazy. Its crazy how things happen in life and when they happen! I have just over a month of school left here at Western and couldn't be more excited. It is going to be sad to leave the institute and all the people I have met here through work, school, coaching and everything but I'm am so ready to be done with school for awhile. So I am just going to post a few pics of some recent things I have done. I will post sometime next week because this weekend is going to be awesome!! I am going to the Jazz game tomorrow night with a kid I met named Tyler and some of our friends. Then I am going to go home and visit my family! It seems like it has been forever since I have been home so I am super excited to see everyone and do some much needed laundry:) Well here we go!!

You're Gonna Miss This

The other day I was watching CMT and Trace Adkins song "You're gonna miss this" came on. I immediately thought of my high school days and sports. This song reminded me of how much I miss playing competivite basketball. Everytime I go watch high school games, I realize that those were good times... The games, practices, bus trips, long weekends!! I may have not loved practice at the time but I honestly miss it now. I hate running, dont get me wrong, but I miss being in shape!! I was reading my dear friend Jana's blog and she calculated how much time was spent playing and it was like 464 days of basketball during high school!! That is alot of basketball!! I wish I could go back and play again. I admit I was not the nicest person on the court and I did some things that I am not proud of but I still had fun doing it:) lol and at times I didn't like the coaches and what they did but I am glad that they pushed us to be better!! Some people think that you don't have to win to have fun, but I can atest that its so much funner to win games than it is to lose them. When I become a coach I will push my players to be successful because winning is the best thing ever. The feeling of working your butt off for 36 minutes a game and coming out on top is an amazing feeling. I will never forget the way I felt my senior year at state. We went into state 4th seed and played Gillette who was the 1st seed... just some background, we had lost to them in December by like 60 points so we were definately the underdogs... anyways the game was close the whole time and it came down to the end. We were tied with about 10 seconds left and we got called for a travel then we fouled them (not on purpose). So they had two shots with less than one second and she made the first and missed the second. So we didnt even have time for a desperation full court shot!! That feeling of defeat was the worst feeling I have felt in all my sports years. We wanted to be so happy because we played so good but we still lost and didnt have a chance at winning state. So whoever says that winning isn't everything, obviously hasn't felt that feeling of defeat.

so anyways I plan on moving back to Evanston and helping coach next year. I'm so excited to work with the coaches and the girls!! Well here are some of my pictures from my senior year!!

Grandma Jensen

Well I have been slacking a little in the blog area lately. There hasnt been much excitement besides I'm back in RS schooling and working! I'm pretty much healed from my wonderful surgery during the break, which I'm so glad I healed so fast. On a down side I found out last night that my great grandma Jensen (my mothers grandma) passed away. When I found out I was sad but mostly happy for her. She is very old and has been having health problems for quite some years. During Thanksgiving break my senior year I remember going to visit her because they didn't think she would live much longer because her kidneys were failing. So she has lived much longer than they thought she would and she finally returned to live with her heavenly father and her husband Joe. I'm sad that she has left us here on earth but I know she has been longing to be where she is for so many years. My favorite memory of her is her craftiness. She would make so many things out of yarn like cowboy hats, bears, dolls, hot pads, and so many other things. I love her and miss her and I look forward to the day I can see her beautiful smiling face again.

This was my grandma just last year at emily's wedding... She wasn't able to attend the ceremony because its hard for her to get around but she came to everything else!!

Rewind of 2008

What a crazy busy year 2008 has been. There have been many great events that have happened. I helped coach the Freshman Girls basketball team for Rock Springs... we only lost one game and that was our game against Evanston. It was a really great experience even though it was hard to transition from hating RS through high school to having to cheer and coach them!!

In April Emily got married...finally:) haha jk but we haven't had any boy drama since which has been good:) jk emily...

May I finished op my first year at college at WWCC. I decided I wanted to major in Physical Education which is a K-12 degree.

Then in June I finally went to Disneyland with the family!! It was so so much fun... the Lake Family went the same time we did and we had a great time. We also went to Knots Berry farm and sea world. It was an awesome vacation. I also got to see my favorite temple...the San Diego!

Also I was called to be an assistant camp director with my aunt Jenny! We had so much fun besides our camp got cut a little short because of a fire... talk about a great way to get initiated into being a leader and being in charge of 10 girls...

Then in August we had our annual family reunion which was a success as usual. Except the little fact that I had to talk and pretty much bahled during it but thats just me!!
Then I started my second and last year at Western the end of August and nothing too exciting has happened since that til Christmas.

Christmas was good and everything went great. I was sick Friday and most of Saturday but felt good saturday night and went to the movies with the fam. Then I woke up early Sunday with pains in my side and same flu like crap. So after talking with my mom and deciding that it could be my appendix we went to the hospital. We went about one and they gave me some medicine, made me drink this sick contrast stuff, and did a cat scan to find out that it was my appendix and that it needed to come out. Also in the cat scan they could see that in the bottom of my lung was a little gunk. So they took a chest x-ray and found out that I had phnemonia too!! Great combo I know!! So I had to go to Utah that night because the Evanston surgeon wasn't in. We get down there and they decide to get my phnemonia under control before surgery, so surgery was early monday morning and I didn't get to leave until Tuesday afternoon!! It was a long painful couple days but I'm feeling better now but still can't do alot for about two weeks!! And that has been my year in review!! I'm glad 2009 is here and I look forward to what it has to bring!! Happy New Year to everyone!!
